This database is an attempt to document gardeners and their families in the 1700s and 1800s and how they moved in Sweden. There is also information about garden boys / companions and wives. Generally, following a gardener is a daunting task as they move between different employers very often. In my search for my ancestor Gardener Olof Holmsten (1705-?) I have noted other gardeners and their families which I hope can be of help to others.*
*With reservation for misinterpretations of historical handwriting. The words I am looking for are something with the swedish word for Garden, “Trädgård” or variants of the surname Holmsten.
